Characteristics of BOT

As suggested by the name, B-O-T involves three phases in the life cycle: Build, Operate,and Transfer. It means outsourcing the logistics associated with building offshore capacity.
A carefully written and implemented BOT contract essentially leaves the software vendor with an operating offshore development center just as if ODC had been selected from the start. BOT is a growing trend in offshore services. In BOT, a partnership is formed between a provider and client company to established dedicated offshore delivery center to meet the client’s development and testing needs. The service provider commits
state-of-art workspace, servers, workstations, software, experienced managerial staffs,highly skilled technical pool. Startup fees are required, but a seamless extension of the client’s development environment is quickly formed. Providers maintain sufficient flexibility to adapt to a new client’s project governance models, key processes, and best practices.

The service provider assumes the responsibility for building and operating the
development center. This enables the client to reap the benefits more quickly since the service provider has already established these functions. With B-O-T, once the operation has achieved scale and productivity targets, the client has the ability to assume full ownership of the center.
