Software Development Engineer

Job Objectives:
This SDE position, in the Commerce Platform Development team, will work with multiple disciplined team members in Beijing and Seattle on development of backend commerce services for state of the art e-commerce platform. The Software Development Engineer (SDE) will play a key role in the design and development commerce platform and focus on quality, performance, and delivery of the best commerce services available on the Internet.

Job Responsibilities:
· At a Senior Level, participate as a project team member in providing detailed design, coding and testing for oracle based applications using Oracle SQL and PL/SQLin Linux environment.
· Provide high level system design including data modeling, physical and logic database design, database storage optimization
· Work with Java development team on query performance optimization
· Provide architecture/design/implementation for large data migration project
· Adhere Software Development Life Cycle methodology (design, code reviews, code, test, test plans, system and support documentation, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum:
Solid English reading and writing skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL programming
Experience on large data volume ETL process or data migration is a big plus
Proficiency in SQL*Plus and/or other query tools such as Toad.Proven track record of successfully delivering high volume and high availability transactional applications under tight time constraints.
Ability to lead code reviews and technical design meetings.
Ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle, methodologies and tools - including code reviews and version control software such as CVS.

Preferred:
Good English speaking skills is a big plus.
Experience with e-commerce or other order and payment processing systems.
Experience with 24/7 applications.

Experience:
Minimum:
5 years team-oriented development experience in a relational database environment required
3 years solid Oracle PL/SQL industry development experience(internship does not count)
Experience designing and developing software in distributed architecture and multi-tier application environments.
Experience with software performance testing, tuning and load testing

Preferred:
Experience with unit test frameworks such as DBunit
Experience with Linux operating systems preferred
Familiarity with Unix shell scripting preferred
Working knowledge or familiarity with other database preferred
Experience with structured Software Development Life Cycle methodology preferred
Experience with ecommerce systems and primarily payment transactions and providers is a big plus.


Education, Certification, and/or Training:
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or computing related discipline.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Computer Science or computing related discipline.
