Here’s my point of view on resignation:

If someone talks about resignation, he must have some reasonable causes. For me, the most important things in my life are my families; and then, be a technician, keep my technical skills up-to-date; finally, work comfortably. At the end of the year 2004, I asked myself, “Am I really able to face to the challenges in the next 2 years with my current skill sets?” No, I answered myself, there are many new technologies coming and I do not know a lot of them indeed (for example, Microsoft Servers series, BizTalk Server 2004, Commercial Server, Content Management Server, Host Integration Server; and new things of Microsoft .NET 2.0, etc). There are only 3 years before I’m 30 years old, I need to be powerful enough to ensure I can face to the new life after I started my family (have a baby, then my wife get started working at home, have my parents live with me, etc). Now opportunities come to me (refer to my first mail on this), I have to make such a decision.



I appreciate what Gary said last night (Rohit told me about the conversation), but the more I think about it, the more I feel it’s not good for me to ask for a higher salary and continue to stay at E5. Every one of us wants better income, but, suppose I say “I want to get USD $2,000 per month”, the first impression from my side is “Heh, you are asking for a higher salary by threaten the company to leave”, that’s definitely bad for me. Well, suppose E5 is willing to fit this asking, then I would like to ask myself again, “Yes, the company satisfied me, but what’s the reason? Am I really that good to the company, or just because only I can take over the project for now? $2,000 is diploid on my current salary, it’s not expensive in US but E5 can find 2 new technicians in China instead of me…” things like that. I’d like to be a friend of E5 instead of an expensive employee.



Plus, I want to have enough free time (I mean don’t work for too much time to do things I want) to research new technologies, so that when new type of project is coming, I have the ability to take over it without any difficulty.



I have to stop here ‘coz I have some job scheduled for today. Let talk about it at Monday…
